Oregon Coast - August 16, 2008

My search for a motorcycle continues. My neighbor owned a 2000 Victory V92C that he wanted to sell. I offered to rent it for the day since I wanted to put some time in the saddle. JJ refused and instead insisted I just take it for the day - Thanks - JJ!.

The route we decided on was back roads to the Oregon Coast. On this trip was me (Kevin) riding the Victory, Jim riding his Harley Fat Boy, Russ riding his Honda Magna, Dan riding his Kawasaki Ninja and Patrick & Heather riding their Honda Shadow ACE.

We left Salem, Oregon and rode west to Independence, Oregon where we met up with Patrick & Heather. We headed south to Corvallis where we took Hwy 34 to Waldport, Oregon. Following Hwy 101 we stopped to view Heceta Head Lighthouse then traveled south to Florence, Oregon where we had lunch at Mo's on the bay.

We then rode east on Hwy 126 before turning north on Hwy 38 towards Triangle Lake. We then worked our way back to Albany, Oregon before the group broke apart to make their way home.

The Victory is a nice bike with plenty of power but the transmission had me concerned. It made way to much noise and had load clunks when shifting between gears.

Stopped at the lookout on Hwy 101 just north of Florence, Oregon.
This is a "must stop" if you are ever on Hwy 101 as you
have a great view
of the lighthouse and sea lions on the rocks below.

The trip was about 300 miles and we had some
of the best summer weather (no wind!) at the Oregon coast.

Here is a map of our route:
